The camera that we used was a Canon 600d.
We used this to film all of our piece but we had a few issues with it, such as, every now and then it would stop filming automatically. We managed to overcome this, as none of the shots we used were particularly long anyways.
We also used iMovie to edit our final piece, initially we had done a preliminary task to get used to the software and to play around with the different transitions and to develop our editing skills.
As a group we also had access to a microphone that would attach to the camera but seeing as the camera that we used had a good microphone itself, it picked up all of the necessary diegetic sound so we didn't use it.
We had a few issues with editing initially because in our first few shootings we did it at a really awkward time, 6am, and the sunrise meant there were dramatic continuity issues with the lighting and frost etc. Due to this we had to change our idea around and find a better location because we were unable to change the colour on the editor to a realistic colour all the way throughout.
Having said this, there are some continuity issues between 1:30 and 1:40, but as the colours are of the same pallet, we were able to get away with it.
Another piece of digital technology that we used to keep track of all of the developments was Blogger. We used this to document our proceedings and our research as we went, which proved useful when we did individual research within our groups.
Youtube was also a key aspect to our final piece, we used it to source a lot of our inspiration for some shot ideas and mise-en-scene. We also uploaded our final product to Youtube and asked for people to search it up then send us feedback, which proved useful as we ended up making some changes to it and the re-uploading it.
When it came to evaluating our work we were given a number of evaluation questions which we needed to answer and present in different ways. For a lot of these we used Prezi and Piktochart, two presentation based pieces of software that makes it easy to layout the answers to our questions. They are easy to navigate and makes the content clearer and more engaging to the audience, keeping their interest rather facing them with a block of text and boring them.
