After looking into the different representations of mental illnesses, we became aware that misrepresentation of an illness such as schizophrenia can easily be done.
As a result we will keep the condition subtle in the trailer, using a similar technique to the 'Interstellar' trailer where the main genre of the film isn't given away. Therefore we will have a few shots of the hallucination, including at least one where he disappears, but other than that our trailer will just give some context to the film.
We used our research to develop the back stories of our characters, a lot of which will not be essential to the trailer, but will help us gain a better understanding of our characters and how they will behave in given situations; as well as how to present that through the medium of film.
