Foley Sound Experiments

Foley sound effects are effects that are made to reinforce verisimilitude and synchronise with events on screen. They are sounds that mimic real life that production mikes may miss, such as the rustle of clothing, footsteps etc.

During post-production we will have to consult audio, and consider out options if the camera mic doesn't pick up all of the audio that we required. Foley artists use unwanted junk to create their 'music', and we will have to address this technique in the near future.

We need to recognise what diegetic sound we want to enhance/create and what sound to cut out. When we storyboarded, we decided that we want the majority of the audio to be non-diegetic, but after filming and editing, we may change our minds, and at that point we may have to create our own 'diegetic' sounds.
